By day this district between the Amstel and Keizersgracht
is a place of quiet squares and shady canals whose
still waters mirror the magnifiscent facades of
palacial residences, some of which deign to open
their doors and reveal their secrets to passers-by.
But once the strings of lights between the seven
bridges of Reguliersgracht are switched on , the
night revellers invade the streets and the area
reveals its livlier side , full of fast food outlets
and gay bars.
